ROTATING BENCH is an installation that allows users to customize their public space to their liking. This bench meets the SMART criteria through its versatility.
Through the possibility of rotation movement, an intimate, discussion setting can be created by the proximity of two benches. The chairs, too, are mobile, they slide in the plane of the wooden frame, thus creating multiple arrangement configurations. It is well known that if a bench is occupied by a person, it produces a state of mental restraint to someone who will want to sit down. This state occurs due to the lack of delimitation of personal space. By sliding the seats, configurations are made that allow the bench to be occupied in its entirety, the space between the seats being sufficient for the spatial delimitation. The ensemble consisting of three benches can be oriented according to the position of the sun, the environment and the preferences of the users. During sunny days, the benches can follow the shade left by the trees, thus adapting to the environmental conditions.
